Renu Desai, born into a Marathi-speaking household, shares a son, born in 2004, with Telugu actor Pawan Kalyan, whom she married on January 28, 2009. The couple welcomed a daughter in 2010. However, they filed for divorce in 2011, with the proceedings finalized in 2012. In 2018, Desai disclosed her engagement but chose not to reveal the identity of her fiancé.

Prior to venturing into Telugu cinema, Desai began her career as a model and featured in the music video of Shankar Mahadevan’s song “Breathless.” She shared the screen with her eventual husband in the films “Badri” and “Johnny.” Desai later transitioned to Marathi cinema, her hometown, where she remains actively involved.
