Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, starring Prabhas, is set for a grand re-release on March 21, and the response has been nothing short of phenomenal. Despite being one of the most anticipated films, the movie faced some box office challenges, collecting around ₹600 crore worldwide—falling short of the ₹1000 crore milestone many had expected. Its Hindi collections, in particular, were impacted due to competition from Dunki. Even director Prashanth Neel acknowledged that the film’s theatrical performance did not fully meet his expectations.
However, the movie gained a massive following after its OTT release, fueling immense excitement for Salaar 2. While the sequel was initially expected to go on floors immediately, it faced delays due to Neel’s prior commitments, including his upcoming film with Jr. NTR.
Typically, a film re-releasing within a year without a special occasion doesn’t generate significant buzz, but Salaar has defied expectations. Advance bookings have been nothing short of record-breaking. Limited show bookings opened yesterday, and within just a day, over 25,000 tickets were sold on BookMyShow. With growing demand for additional screenings, Salaar is well on its way to setting new benchmarks for re-releases.
