Sandhya 70mm Tragedy: Allu Arjun Seeks Relief from Telangana High Court

Tollywood star Allu Arjun has approached the Telangana High Court to quash the FIR registered against him in connection with the tragic stampede that led to the death of a 35-year-old woman named Revathi during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule at the Sandhya 70mm theater. The incident, which occurred on December 4, also left Revathi’s 13-year-old son Sreetej seriously injured as a large crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of Allu Arjun, who was present at the theater with his family.

In his petition, Arjun has sought the quashing of the FIR and requested a stay on all further proceedings, including any potential arrest. His legal counsel argued that the actor was unaware of the stampede as he was inside the theater when the incident occurred. The petition also stated that the production house had informed the theater management and the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) about Allu Arjun’s arrival to prevent any untoward incidents.

The Sandhya 70mm theater management has also informed the court that it had requested police bandobast from the ACP, the Station House Officer (SHO), and the traffic police to manage the large crowd expected during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule. However, the theater’s counsel claimed that only a limited number of police personnel were deployed despite their request.

Following the tragedy, the Chikkadpally Police registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security personnel, and the Sandhya 70mm theater management under Sections 105 and 118 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The FIR was filed based on a complaint from the victim’s husband. Subsequently, police arrested one of the theater owners, a senior manager, and the lower balcony in charge in connection with the incident.
