Sandhya Theatre Tragedy: 6 Arrested for Stone Pelting and Vandalizing Allu Arjun’s Residence

A case has been filed against six members of the Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OU-JAC) for allegedly vandalizing actor Allu Arjun’s residence amidst the ongoing controversy over the Sandhya Theatre Tragedy.

The incident occurred around 4:45 pm when a group of protestors, holding placards and chanting slogans, gathered outside the Pushpa actor’s residence in Jubilee Hills. One protestor climbed the compound wall and began throwing tomatoes, while others reportedly manhandled the security staff and damaged flower pots along the ramp. Visuals from the scene showed broken pots, shattered glass, and damaged plants caused by stone pelting.

The DCP West Zone confirmed that the Jubilee Hills Police responded promptly and detained the six individuals, all claiming affiliation with OU-JAC. However, neither Allu Arjun nor his family have filed a formal complaint. Authorities continue to investigate the matter.

The situation escalated following public statements exchanged between Allu Arjun and the Telangana government. Tensions peaked after the actor attended the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule at Sandhya Theatre on December 4, 2024, despite police warnings about the safety risks. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy revealed in the assembly that police had denied permission for the event due to the venue’s safety concerns. However, Allu Arjun attended the premiere, where he mounted his car roof and conducted a roadshow, contributing to the chaos.

The police intervened during a stampede when the actor refused to leave despite requests. He was later warned by the DCP to leave the scene or face arrest. Following the incident, a woman named Revathi tragically lost her life, and her child sustained injuries. Allu Arjun expressed his sorrow, stating that he had no direct involvement in the tragic events, despite the accusations.

In an Instagram post, Allu Arjun offered condolences to the grieving family and urged his fans to refrain from abusive behavior, both online and offline. He dismissed the allegations against him as an attempt at “character assassination,” emphasizing his distress over the incident.

Pushpa 2: The Rule, the highly anticipated sequel to the blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise, continues to break box-office records, even amid the controversy.
