The Telugu dubbed version of Meiyazhagan, titled Sathyam Sundaram and starring Karthi, released with minimal pre-release buzz but garnered positive word-of-mouth reviews. Despite this, it managed to attract only a limited audience during its opening weekend.
In Tamil Nadu, the film grossed nearly ₹11 crores, while the Telugu states contributed around ₹3 crores, which is considered moderate. In Kerala, the film added another ₹40 lakhs, bringing the total India gross to ₹16 crores. The overseas market performed well, contributing ₹8 crores, pushing the total worldwide gross to ₹24 crores for the first weekend.
This is considered an average-to-decent performance. To reach a strong total, the film needs to maintain momentum during weekdays. However, with positive word-of-mouth, the Telugu version is expected to gain traction. Additionally, the makers have trimmed the runtime after receiving audience feedback about unnecessary scenes, which could boost its performance in the upcoming days.
