Renowned choreographer Jani Master has been arrested following serious allegations of sexual assault and harassment made by his former assistant choreographer. The Cyberabad Police apprehended Jani in Goa on Thursday and presented him before a local court.
A zero FIR was initially registered at the Raidurg police station on Thursday. Subsequently, on September 15, the Narsingi Police re-registered the case under sections 506 and 323 of the IPC. The victim, in her complaint, accused Jani Master of sexually assaulting her in 2020 during a work-related trip to Mumbai. She also alleged ongoing sexual harassment and threats to remain silent. As the victim was a minor at the time of the initial incident, the police have filed a POCSO case against him.
Currently, the Cyberabad Police are in the process of transferring Jani to Hyderabad after securing a transit warrant from the Goa court. In response to these allegations, the Telugu Film Chamber recently held a press conference, announcing full non-cooperation with Jani until the investigation is complete. Additionally, the Telugu Film Dancer’s Union has been advised to remove Jani from his position as president.
