As Pushpa 2 continues to break box office records, actor Siddharth has shared his thoughts on the massive crowds that gathered for the film’s trailer launch event in Patna, Bihar, in November. In a recent interview with Tamil YouTuber Madan Gowri, Siddharth downplayed the significance of the crowd, stating, “That’s all marketing. It’s not a big deal to gather a crowd in India. You bring a JCB for construction and people will gather automatically.” He further explained that in India, there is no direct correlation between the size of the crowd and the quality of the event, adding, “If that were the case, all political parties would be winning.”
The Pushpa 2 trailer launch event in Patna on November 17 saw a chaotic scene at Gandhi Maidan, where large crowds gathered to catch a glimpse of stars Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna. The situation escalated when some attendees crossed barricades and threw shoes and slippers in frustration when they were prevented from getting closer to the stars. Patna’s Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajeev Mishra, clarified that the police did not resort to a lathi charge as reported by some media outlets but had to remove individuals who attempted to breach the barricades. He assured that adequate security was in place to manage the situation.
Siddharth Talks Marriage and Career Choices
When asked about his life post-marriage to actor Aditi Rao Hydari, Siddharth shared that things have remained relatively the same. “We still are two working actors in two different cities. We have three homes in three cities, and whenever we get time, we are together,” he said, adding that they are doing their best to spend time together despite their hectic schedules. He also emphasized that he has no regrets and feels “super privileged” in life.
Regarding his decision to quit social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Siddharth explained that he wants to focus solely on his work and not be labeled as an activist, philanthropist, or “brave guy.” “I will only talk about cinema. I want to spend the rest of my life focusing on my work,” he stated.
Siddharth on the Decline of the Film Industry
Siddharth also spoke about the challenges facing the film industry, pointing out the industry’s low success rate of under four percent. “Although the government clubs our industry with the gambling industry, for us, it’s our job and business. I have to know the market when I’m investing so much money,” he said.
Siddharth’s Upcoming Film ‘Miss You’ vs. Pushpa 2
Addressing concerns that his upcoming film Miss You might get overshadowed by Pushpa 2: The Rule, Siddharth responded, “There are many things that need to happen if my movie is to be in theatres in the second week. The first of them is that my film should be good and liked by the audience.” He added, “As for the next movie, they should be worried, and that is not my problem. If the film is good, it will stay in theatres. A good cinema cannot be removed from theatres, especially in this era of social media awareness.”
Miss You, initially slated for release on November 29, was postponed to December 13, and Siddharth remains optimistic about its reception.
