Varun Tej, one of the prominent actors from the Mega family, made his entry into the film industry with Mukunda and scored a massive blockbuster with Fidaa. Following this, he delivered a series of hits, including Kanche, Tholi Prema, F2, F3, Gaddalakonda Ganesh, and Antariksham. Despite being part of the Mega family, Varun Tej has been carving his own path, striving to establish himself as a star hero. However, in recent times, he hasn’t had much success, with films like Gandeevadhari Arjuna and Ghani failing to impress audiences.
After taking a brief hiatus, Varun returned with Matka, a mass entertainer directed by Karuna Kumar, starring Meenakshi Chaudhary opposite him. The teaser and trailers for Matka generated a great response, with audiences especially appreciating the powerful dialogues. The film hit theaters on November 14, but despite high expectations, it opened to negative reviews at the box office. As a result, collections saw a significant drop.
Although Matka had created strong hype at its pre-release event, the movie’s first-day earnings fell short of expectations, leaving netizens surprised at the lower-than-anticipated numbers.
