The GOAT, featuring superstar Vijay, has shown impressive box office performance over its first two weekends. While the film didn’t quite meet expectations in Telugu states and Kerala, it excelled in other regions, particularly Tamil Nadu, which emerged as its strongest market. Remarkably, The GOAT has crossed the 200 crore milestone in Tamil Nadu, surprising many.
After a fantastic opening in Tamil Nadu, the film maintained its momentum, and early indications suggest a strong third weekend as well. With its 200 crore gross, The GOAT becomes the third film to achieve this feat, following Ponniyin Selvan 1 and Leo. Trade analysts predict that it could become Vijay’s highest-grossing film in Tamil Nadu, although it will need to generate substantial numbers to surpass Ponniyin Selvan 1.
Globally, The GOAT has grossed over 430 crores, making it the fifth highest-grossing Tamil film, surpassing Vikram. However, it seems unlikely to reach the 500 crore mark, with projections estimating a total near 450 crores if the current momentum holds through the weekend. Following this project, Vijay is set to take on only one more film, titled Thalapathy 69, before transitioning into full-time politics.
