The GOAT OTT Release: All You Need to Know

The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) is an action-packed Tamil sci-fi film starring Vijay in dual roles. Directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by AGS Entertainment, this film marks the studio’s 25th production. Notably, GOAT is Vijay’s second-to-last film before his expected entry into politics. The movie had its global theatrical release on September 5, 2024.

Netflix acquired the streaming rights for GOAT, securing the Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada versions for ₹125 crore (approximately US$15 million) and the Hindi version for ₹25 crore (approximately US$3 million). Zee Tamil obtained the satellite rights for ₹93 crore. During the film’s promotional campaign, Venkat Prabhu announced that a director’s cut, featuring about 20 minutes of additional footage, will be released on Netflix after the film completes its theatrical run. Typically, films become available on OTT platforms 4 to 5 weeks after their theatrical release.

GOAT Synopsis

The film follows Gandhi, a skilled hostage negotiator, field agent, and spy working with Chennai’s Special Anti-Terrorist Squad (SATS), who also collaborates closely with RAW. A dedicated family man, Gandhi faces new challenges years after his retirement. Alongside his SATS team, composed of three other members, Gandhi must confront the consequences of their past missions.

GOAT Cast and Crew

Vijay stars in dual roles as Gandhi and Jeevan, with Akhil portraying the younger Jeevan. The supporting cast includes Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Ajmal Ameer, Mohan, and Jayaram. Sneha plays Gandhi’s wife and Jeevan’s mother, while Laila takes on the role of a doctor, and Meenakshi Chaudhary appears as Srinidhi, Jeevan’s love interest, with her voice dubbed by M. M. Manasi. Vaibhav plays Jeevan’s friend, and Premgi Amaren portrays Gandhi’s brother-in-law and Jeevan’s uncle. The ensemble cast also features Yugendran, Parvati Nair, VTV Ganesh, Aravind Akash, Ajay Raj, Komal Sharma, Abyuktha Manikandan, Anjena Kirti, Dileepan, Ganja Karuppu, T. Siva, and Irfan Zaini. Vijayakanth and Y. G. Mahendran make cameo appearances, with the latter’s role created using AI technology.

GOAT is directed by Venkat Prabhu, who co-wrote the screenplay with Ezhilarasu Gunasekaran and K. Chandru, and penned the dialogues with Viji. The film is produced by Kalpathi S. Aghoram, Kalpathi S. Ganesh, and Kalpathi S. Suresh under the AGS Entertainment banner. The movie features cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni, editing by Venkat Raajen, and a soundtrack by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
