Renowned Tollywood choreographer Jani Master has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days following allegations of sexual assault. The complaint was lodged by a female choreographer, who accused him of misconduct and harassment, starting from the time she was a minor. He was promptly arrested and produced before the court, which sent him to Cherlapally Central Jail in Hyderabad. Jani Master will remain in custody until October 3, 2024, after which the legal formalities will proceed.
In addition to the sexual assault charges, Jani Master was also booked under the POCSO Act, intensifying the legal consequences. Following the allegations, he was removed from his position in the Tollywood Dance Association Body and suspended from participating in activities associated with the Janasena Party, where he was an active member.
The victim further accused Jani Master’s wife of physical abuse and coercion. According to the complaint, Jani Master’s wife allegedly pressured the victim to convert to Islam in order to facilitate a quick marriage. This aspect of the case has sparked significant controversy, and there are growing calls for police action against her as well.
