The Tollywood industry has faced challenges this year, with only a few films, such as Hanu-Man and the much-anticipated Kalki 2898 AD starring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone, bringing success to distributors. Major releases like Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram, Ram’s Double iSmart, and Ravi Teja’s Mr. Bachchan and Eagle suffered losses. While films like Tillu Square, Om Bheem Bush, Committee Kurrollu, Aay, Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, and the recently released Mathu Vadalara 2 made some box office impact, the industry awaits a true blockbuster to reignite optimism.
In this context, the upcoming big-ticket releases, Devara: Part 1, Pushpa: The Rule, and Game Changer, are crucial for the industry’s revival. NTR’s Devara, featuring Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor, is slated for a September 27 release with high expectations. The film, riding on NTR’s nationwide fame post-RRR, has nearly Rs 200 crores at stake.
Meanwhile, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rule, the sequel to the successful Pushpa: The Rise, is set to release on December 6. With immense pre-release buzz, the film is expected to replicate the massive success of its predecessor, possibly earning up to Rs 1,000 crore from pre-release deals.
Lastly, Ram Charan’s Game Changer, directed by Shankar, is also highly anticipated. Ram Charan’s fame, post-RRR, along with Kiara Advani’s presence, has generated substantial excitement, especially in North India. Scheduled for a Christmas release, it is one of the most awaited films of the year.
