Released on August 10, 2001, director Teja’s musical love story, Nuvvu Nenu, starring late actor Uday Kiran and Anita Hassanandani in lead roles, went on to become a huge blockbuster at the box office. Both Uday and Anita became overnight stars following the film’s massive success.
Now, after 22 years, Nuvvu Nenu is scheduled for its re-release on March 21. Needless to say, it’s going to be a deeply emotional moment for all the fans of Uday Kiran to watch him on the silver screens once again. It’s well known that Uday had tragically ended his life on January 5, 2014.
Nuvvu Nenu won 4 Filmfare Awards, with Uday Kiran and director Teja walking away with the black ladies for Best Actor and Best Director respectively. The film was also honored with the Best Film and Best Music Composer awards for its producer Gemini Kiran and music director RP Patnaik. Nuvvu Nenu also won 5 Nandi Awards in 2002.
