Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan recently hit the big screens and had a mixed response at the box office. On its 6th day, the film crossed the ₹200 crore mark globally, with a strong start over its first weekend, grossing ₹185 crores. However, the movie witnessed a significant dip during the weekdays. For Vettaiyan to hit the ₹250 crore mark, a strong second weekend is crucial.
Despite its grand opening, the film’s theatrical rights, valued at ₹325 crores, may face challenges in certain regions. In Tamil Nadu and overseas, the performance has fallen short of expectations. The Telugu version, suffering from lackluster buzz and promotions, has brought in a disappointing ₹16 crores gross so far. Kerala’s contribution stands at ₹14 crores.
Tamil Nadu’s expected opening gross of ₹150 crores fell short, and the overseas collection, projected to hit ₹100 crores during the weekend, managed only ₹65 crores.
