Superstar Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan, directed by T.J. Gnanavel, was released worldwide yesterday, garnering average reviews and mixed word of mouth from audiences. Despite this, the star-studded action drama saw a decent opening day, with solid numbers considering the genre.
In Tamil Nadu, Vettaiyan collected approximately ₹20 Cr on Day 1, while the Telugu states contributed an estimated ₹5 Cr gross. Karnataka reported around ₹7 Cr, and Kerala’s collections were around ₹4 Cr.
Overall, the film’s all-India gross for Day 1 is expected to be ₹38 Cr, while overseas numbers are estimated at $3.5 million. This brings the worldwide opening day total to approximately ₹67 Cr. With a holiday today, the approaching weekend, and the Dasara festival on the horizon, the film is poised for strong box office performance in the coming days.
