Vijay Sethupathi Turns Down Role in Ram Charan’s Upcoming Film

Vijay Sethupathi, a versatile actor known for his impactful performances in South Indian cinema, has decided to shift his focus toward lead roles. Unlike many stars, Sethupathi never limited himself to playing just heroic roles. Over the years, he has portrayed powerful supporting characters and memorable antagonists in several blockbusters.

However, his recent choices suggest a change in direction. While he initially stood out with unique and intense roles, some of his later characters began to feel formulaic. His role in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan is one such example, where his character followed the pattern of a typical commercial villain. The actor himself admitted in an interview that he wasn’t receiving offers for roles that truly challenged him.

Fresh off the success of Maharaja, where he played a lead role, Sethupathi is now more selective in his film choices. Reports had previously linked him to a key role in RC16, Ram Charan’s upcoming film directed by Buchi Babu Sana. The two had previously collaborated on Uppena, which fueled speculation about another partnership. However, during the promotions for Viduthalai 2, Sethupathi confirmed that he was not part of RC16. He revealed that, although the storyline might have been strong, the character offered to him did not meet his expectations.

This decision reflects his newfound approach to prioritizing substantial lead roles over supporting characters in other heroes’ films. For now, it appears unlikely that Vijay Sethupathi will accept roles in multi-starrer projects unless the character offers him significant depth and scope.
