Vijay Sethupathi’s 50th film, Maharaja, was released last Friday in Tamil and Telugu, receiving unanimous positive reviews from both critics and audiences. This acclaim led to fantastic first weekend box office collections.
Just minutes ago, the makers officially announced the first weekend collections. The film grossed Rs. 32.6 crores worldwide, marking the highest ever opening weekend collection for a Tamil film in 2024. The Telugu version also showed exponential growth, collecting nearly Rs. 6 crores in the Telugu states, and is expected to break even in those regions by the end of the day.
Maharaja is directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, known for his work in Kurangu Bommai, and features a talented ensemble cast including Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, and Natty. The music is composed by Ajaneesh Loknath. This film is a collaboration between Passion Studios, The Route, and Think Studios.
