Tollywood heartthrob Akhil Akkineni’s last outing on the silver screen was in the spy action thriller “Agent,” directed by Surender Reddy. Despite the high hopes surrounding its release, the film failed to make a mark at the box office, disappointing fans and critics alike. However, there’s now an unexpected buzz building up as the movie gears up for its digital premiere.
Exactly one year ago, “Agent” hit theaters with much fanfare, only to fade away quickly due to various reasons. While Akhil showcased his talent with a commendable performance, the film’s lack of innovation and flawed execution contributed to its downfall, relegating it to a distant memory for audiences. Nonetheless, there’s a surprising anticipation brewing for its digital release.
Initially slated for a May 19, 2023 release, the digital premiere on Sony LIV was later pushed to September 29, 2023. However, further delays have ensued, leaving fans eagerly awaiting any official updates regarding its online debut.
A major obstacle in the path to its OTT release is an ongoing legal dispute between the Vizag distributor and the producer. Despite this setback, Akhil’s loyal fanbase remains optimistic, hoping for a swift resolution to pave the way for the film’s long-awaited digital premiere.
Featuring a talented ensemble cast including Mammootty, Sakshi Vaidya, and Dino Moriya, “Agent” boasts a gripping storyline penned by Vakkantam Vamsi and is produced by Ramabrahmam Sunkara. Adding to its appeal is the mesmerizing musical score composed by Hiphop Tamizha.
