Yami Gautam Dhar returned to work in September 2024, just four months after welcoming her baby, Vedavid. As she gears up to promote her upcoming film Dhoom Dhaam, Yami reflects on how the industry has evolved over the years. “It’s heartening to see how far we’ve come. There was a time when even actors avoided disclosing their marital status to maintain a certain image. It was even more challenging for actresses, especially after embracing motherhood,” Yami shares.

The actress revealed that despite becoming a mother, she continues to receive multiple role offers, highlighting a significant shift in the industry. “In the past, the contradiction between the biological clock and the career clock was stark. Creativity felt so restricted back then,” Yami explains.

She emphasizes the need for female actors to have autonomy in choosing their paths. “It should be every woman’s choice—whether to work or not after marriage or starting a family. If an actress wants to work after becoming a mother, she should be completely free to do so. But longevity in the industry depends on building a filmography with consistent, substantial work.”
