Kamal Haasan’s much-awaited film “Indian 2,” directed by S. Shankar, is all set to hit theaters on July 12. Recently, the film’s budget has been making waves on the internet. According to the latest reports, “Indian 2” was made on a staggering budget of Rs 250 crore, with each schedule of characters costing Rs 30 crore. This substantial investment has generated immense expectations among viewers.

Earlier, Kamal Haasan provided an update on the film’s budget, stating, “The budget was not just decided by the director and the script. COVID-19 decided our budget. Some of the accidents delayed the budget. The tenacity of the producer and the director must be applauded even before the film becomes a hit. It’s very easy to let go if your hand is in pain, you let go. Let me leave this and go to the other one. They did not do that. Not to let go of this child, not to orphan this child was a decision taken by Lyca and Shankar.”

“Indian 2” is a Tamil-language vigilante action film directed by S. Shankar, who co-wrote the script with B. Jeyamohan, Kabilan Vairamuthu, and Lakshmi Saravana Kumar. Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies co-produced the film.

As the official sequel to “Indian,” released on May 9, 1996, “Indian 2” features an ensemble cast including Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, and Priya Bhavani Shankar. Shankar also employed CGI and body doubles to bring late actors Vivek and Nedumudi Venu to life on the big screen.

The journey of “Indian 2” began in 2018, with the first part of the shooting starting in 2019. The COVID-19 outbreak forced a halt in filming, and a tragic accident on set resulted in the deaths of three staff members, putting the project on hold for years. Additionally, a disagreement between Lyca Productions and director S. Shankar further delayed the shoot. After overcoming these challenges and resolving all issues, the filming has finally been completed, and the movie is set for a grand release.
