Falling on the Shukla Paksha Tritiya in the Hindu month of Vaishakha, this year, according to Drik Panchang, Akshaya Tritiya is slated for May 10. The Tritiya Tithi will commence at 4:17 AM on May 10 and conclude at 2:50 AM on May 11.

Rituals:

Akshaya Tritiya commemorates the birth anniversary of Lord Parshuram, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Devotees begin the day with a purifying bath and don yellow attire, symbolizing auspiciousness in Hinduism. Offerings and prayers are made to Lord Vishnu’s idol, accompanied by the recitation of Vishnu Sahasranama and Vishnu Chalisa.

Significance:

Legend has it that on Akshaya Tritiya, Lord Kuber was bestowed with divine blessings from Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma, acquiring the kingdom of Alkapuri. Hence, people purchase gold ornaments and properties in homage to Lord Kuber, deeming it a sacred day of abundance and prosperity.
